This evening I visited a comrade's place to help with some boring politics stuff. During my time there we discussed her year 11 daughter who had left home. She's being allowed to live with one of her mate's parents. And she is applying for Centrelink payments.
Let's get this crystal clear - her parents are perfectly normal. They're not perfect but they are not abusive, dysfunctional, aggressive or anything of the sort. This girl is a little messed up and due to the brilliant system we have you and I will be paying to essentially break up a family.
Fucking absurd.

maybe you should give a little more detail...are you supporting the daughter getting the allowance, or do you think that she should receive it while living at home?
don't you bother replying to your readers comments? this blog is boring...goodbye.
Sheesh...cut me some slack.
I am not supporting the daughter getting the allowance because her family is not dysfunctional. She is just a spoilt brat (even her parents admit that) and she's taking the game to the next level.
If she was living with her parents there'd be no need for the allowance.
sorry for being a little overzealous...I'm just critical of the youth allowance system...having left home at 16 myself; the capitalist system tries to ensure conformity to it's conservatism by forcing the youth to stay at home by underpaying them, or not paying them at all, yet landlord leeches don't let them pay a concession rate if they are forced to rent, even though youth wages are shitful and youth allowance barely any better. If believe if a young person works, or live independently from the family home, they should be entitled to state entitlements. being a spoilt brat reflects on the parents that raised the kid to be one...as a parent, i'm constantly praised for having such a good kid, because i don't spoil her.
I don't believe the state should encourage the breakdown of functioning families - that's my beef with it all.
Either way her parents have done a crap job raising her.
